Photosynthesis in 50 Words
In the term 'photosynthesis', the word 'photo' means 'light and 'synthesis' means 'to build'. Photosynthesis is a process of forming their own food by using or in the presence of sunlight, carbon dioxide, water and the green pigment (chlorophyll) by green plants. The process of photosynthesis are done by autotrophs. In the time of the process of photosynthesis, plants release- Oxygen.
Photosynthesis in 100 words
In the time of process of photosynthesis, the plants (green) form their own food in the ability of carbon dioxide, green pigment (chlorophyll), water and sunlight. At this time, plants release oxygen.
Equation of photosynthesis
Photosynthesis occurs in the green plants (green leves). Green leaves of a plant build their food by merging carbon dioxide from air, and water from soil in the presence of sunlight and (green pigment) chlorophyll. Carbon dioxide is mandatory for building food is taken by plant leaves from air. Carbon dioxide enters the leaves through tiny opening (hole) in them called stomata. Water is compulsary and absorbed from soil. The sunlight supply energy needed to carry out the chemical reactions involved in the building of of food. The chlorophyll which are present on the green leaves helps in the absorbing energy from sunlight.
Photosynthesis in detail or Photosynthesis in 200 words
Green plants can build their own food which are autotrophic and by the processe of photosynthesis. In the term 'photosynthesis' the meaning of 'photo' is 'light'
and the meaning of 'synthesis' is 'to build'.
"In the time of the process of photosynthesis green plants build their food from water (taken from soil) and carbon dioxide (taken from atmosphere) in the presence of chlorophyll by using sunlight energy".
Terrestrial plants plants uses carbon dioxide from atmosphere whereas aquatic plants uses carbon dioxide which are dissolved in water. Water enters the leaf of the plant cells through roots by the process of osmosis. Oxygen is formed due to photolysis of water. Plants are in the green coloured due to the presence of chlorophyll which are photoreceptor molecules which capture the solar energy. In the centre of chlorophyll, there is an atom of magnesium and chlorophyll absorbs the violet, blue and red colour of light.
Chlorophyll molecules are of many types such as 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd' and 'e'. The most common chlorophyll are found in plants are 'a' & 'b'. Chloroplast is the cell organelle in which chlorophyll is present.
There are two stages of Photosynthesis:
a) Photochemical Reation (or light reaction)
b) Dark chemical reaction
Photochemical reaction is completed in the grana of the chlorophyll.
Dark chemical reaction is done in the stroma of chlorophyll.
